Get on the Dirnböckweg and the Massenbergstraße one can reach in a short walkway through the gate of the former courtyard the Massenburg ruin. An imposing gate building and worth seeing building remains until today, which are also used for music and theater events.

Enjoy the beautiful view

A viewing point offers a beautiful view of Leoben and the surrounding mountains. The Massenburg goes back in its first plant to the 9th or 10th century. Only for the 12th century was the name Massenburg occupied.

For the 14th century are already bricked buildings attested. It came to an extensive expansion around the middle of the 16th century. In 1820 the entire castle except for the bulkhead and some remains of the wall was demolished. In 1998/99 rests of the ruin were uncovered and the remnants of the castle underwent a total renovation.
