More than 200 years history

The museums courtyard Kammern bears witness for an agricultural history for more than over 200 years and represents the life in coal- and mining as well as agriculture.

In the 125 year old architectural construction which an extremely remarkable barn and large objects exhibit, like heavy lathes, scythes, sickles, flais to original hay, milk and coal mangers. Embedded are these machines in a breathtaking museum architecture that consists of a never before seen ensemble of glas and wood.

The annex Steinrisserhaus shows especially the history of the Kammern population. It gives an insight of the development and the important role in row material extraction in the Kammern community.

The over 500 million years earth history is completed by a special exhibition in the museums courtyard, displayed are 400 fossils (shells, corals, shark teeth and much more), which reflect the living being development on our planet. They are impressive documentation of our evolution.

Furthermore, numerous cultural events take place annually – from readings to concerts and workshops to museum festivals. There are also changing special exhibitions.

Open:
May 1st till October 31st.
Thursday till Sunday 10:00 – 12:00 and 14:00 – 17:00 o´clock
