Snowshoeing on the Wilden Berg in Mautern – a tour for the whole family. The motto „an animal snow-shoe hike“, where you can cross the animal park terrain of Mautern with snowshoes. The quiet and snowy zoo ground has in winter time a special effect, because of the many Alpine animals like deers, wolves, lynx and chamois which you can get to know from a total different side. An unforgettable snowshoeing experience for the whole family.

The whole tour is only through the grounds of the zoo, which is freely accessible in winter time although you should not leave the marked ways and forest road.

Starting point:

Big parking lot at the zoo “Der wilde Berg” across the forest road in serpentines through the forest and meadow to the middle station. Through the snowy playpark, past the chicken enclosure and on the Wolfs way to the mountain station
Length: (Up and down): 6,8 km, 400 meters in altitude, 2:45 hours.

A fantastic summit tour – with snowshoes on the Großen Schober

A snowshoeing hike von Wald am Schoberpaß (841m) on the Großen Schober (1895 m) needs a good physical condition, because more than 1000 height meter with snowshoes is to overcome. The first part till the Schwarzbeeralm is also recommended for beginners, the following to the peak requires Alpine experience and equipment. On the peak at your feet the Palten-Liesingtal and the view of Seckauer- and Eisenerzer Alps let you forget every effort.

Parking lot GH Fink in Wald am Schoberpaß towards church across the railway crossing way 986 to Schwarzbeeralm, further to Wetterstation (1410m) and to the peak (1895m).

Length: (Up and down): 13,6 km, 1100 meters in altitude, 6:45 hours
